For 2.4 GHz, one technological innovation has been left out, namely the AC standard. This standard is only available for 5 Ghz. Currently, even all Wi-Fi cameras, intercoms and smart home accessories only support the 2.4 Ghz band. Engineers have recognised that this will probably mean that the lower frequency will be needed for a long time to come. So they introduced the AX standard, now known as Wi-Fi 6, for the 2.4 GHz band.
