STid UHF readers: lightning-fast identification of vehicles and people from long distances, safely and securely

Multiple identification

STid's technological innovation offers a new perspective on vehicle and people authentication. The SPECTRE Nano offers a solution for dual identification by combining Bluetooth and UHF technology: identification of the driver and his vehicle.

With the SPECTRE Nano reader, you can check vehicles in a lane up to 6 metres away (the larger SPECTRE model up to 13 metres). A UHF tag fixed on the vehicle can be used to identify employees, for example, and visitors can identify themselves with a virtual card in the STid Mobile ID app on their smartphone.

The different modes can be combined and prioritised in an advanced configuration, so the person to be identified must first identify their vehicle with a UHF tag and then themselves via Bluetooth using the mobile app. Until these conditions are met, the reader will not send the user ID to the access control system.

Access methods when using a mobile phone:

The basic virtual card is the green card. This virtual card is created free of charge when you install the mobile app, and the phone itself can then be used in contact mode, where you connect the phone to the reader just like a physical card.

Other advanced modes can be unlocked with the so-called blue card. This virtual card can be purchased by a one-off payment of 5 credits. The card has the advantage of portability between new devices.

Environmental resistance

The reader can operate between -30°C and +60°C, is IP65 rated and is physically designed to withstand damage from vandals, as it meets the highest IK10 certification. SPECTRE Nano's housing is fireproof (self-extinguishing) and will not be damaged by chemical products such as cleaning agents, oil or fuel. Thanks to these properties, the reader can be used in virtually any environment.

Unmatched security

STid is one of the few manufacturers to offer UHF token encryption, and the reader itself has both an infrared sensor and a mechanical tamper switch, so that in the event of an attack, the reader automatically erases all data.

The reader can be connected to many access control systems on the market thanks to its open but secure standards. The encrypted communication between the reader and the access control system controller is then done via OSDP or SSCP protocols. For previous installations where the Wiegand interface was used, this is still supported.

The reader can also be used for security-critical installations such as power plants, banks, government buildings, military installations - installations where the user needs a high level of security and authentication. The SPECTRE Nano offers up to 3 levels of authentication (UHF + biometrics + Bluetooth).

The UHF identifiers (tags) offered by STid are passive, so no battery is required for their operation. The tags are made of materials that are resistant to harsh environments and exposure to UV radiation, dust, high temperature fluctuations, cleaning agents and water. They are offered in different designs for different types of applications.

The most frequently used UHF tags are:
