The STid Mobile ID virtual card offers new ways to turn your Android or iOS mobile phone into a secure access card, allowing you to enter premises in convenient and customisable ways.
The STid Mobile ID application can replace or extend the capabilities of traditional RFID IDs such as cards and TAGs. The undeniable advantage of the solution is the fast, easy, and most importantly, remote management and portability of the IDs.
Virtual cards
The simplest virtual card is the green card, which is free of charge and offers a mode where the smartphone becomes a physical access card. Subsequently, your phone will function as a seamless replacement for your previous access card or TAG, providing the same level of convenience and utility.
Additional virtual cards cost credits, but offer a range of additional features. The different modes are described in a moment.
The orange card opens up the possibilities for remote identification, where the mobile phone can be used up to 20 m away, depending on environmental conditions.
The blue card is the flagship virtual card. It stands out for its configurable modes, enhanced security and portability between devices. Take a college, for example, where an administrator can distribute virtual cards to students through a cloud portal, and at the start of a new academic year, withdraw the cards from departing students and reallocate them to incoming students, so they can freely manage virtual cards without buying additional credits.
Let's return to the Virtual Card modes:
When using your smartphone as a virtual ID, STid readers support up to 6 modes depending on the type (colour) of access card you have in the app:
• Card mode – to enter, tap your mobile phone to the reader instead of your card (free).
• Slide mode* to enter, swipe your hand in front of the reader without taking your mobile phone out of your pocket.
• Tap Tap mode* - to enter, double tap the phone, which can stay in your pocket.
• Remote mode* - to enter, press a button in the mobile app every time you want to open a door, barrier, garage door or anything else.
• Manual mode* - the system automatically opens the door from a pre-configured distance (adjustable from 5 cm to 20 m).
• Voice mode* - open doors with voice command from iPhone (iOS).
* To use this mode, you need to purchase a credit (virtual card for your mobile phone) for a one-time fee.
Advanced security solution
• Secure storage - the data stored in the STid Mobile ID application is secured by the AES-128 / SHA-256 encryption standard and each user must authenticate with a unique key. Security keys are not stored in the mobile application.
• Secure transmission - the entire data exchange chain is secured by HTTPS - TLS, and all transactions are verified by mutual authentication.
• Multi-factor authentication - an additional feature can be enabled in the settings that always require the smartphone to be unlocked (with PIN/biometrics), so that it is secure even if the mobile phone is lost.
Compatible access control readers
The readers have proven their durability in a series of crash tests, meeting both IP65 and IK10 standards. In addition, the manufacturer offers a lifetime warranty on selected products.
The reader models offer different types of communication interfaces, including OSDP, SSCP and Wiegand, making the readers compatible with many access control systems on the market.
